I have been told that I look very much like the actor Michael Douglas, ( the one who always takes his clothes off in the movies) When my wife and I attend any kind of function in New York City, I am always given double takes and special treatment and it is, I am sure , because I am being mistaken for him.....

the wedding industry in New York is outragous.
But I do think that every bride should feel beautiful on this day and that it should be everything she wants.
As a groom it did not matter much to me. My wife, however, had other ideas.....

the relatives who shun me are so dysfunctional that I think they are using the religon as an excuse to just be nasty.
I do not care. Not having them in my life is not even apparent....

I am from a long line of European ( Austrio-Italian) peasants....just a peasant at heart, and my hands are always dirty from working in the dirt and gardening....surely that must mean something.
My anglo Saxon wife can trace her history to the Mayflower; having six generations of American History; and one of her ancestors was Charles Carroll; signer of the Declaration of Independence and at that time was the wealthiest American and he was Catholic. Very interesting in this new land of Protestants.. We have a very full colorful ancient steamer trunk of her family history. Fascinating stuff.....my kids have some very interesting ancestors through their mothers line.....and they all hate gardening...

to me the biggest LIE that I was taught ( among all the ones mentioned) was that I was going to live forever.....
...DAM; I really believed that....I have crammed so much "catch up living" over the passed 20 yeares that I am just exhausted.....

Did The Elders Treat You With Respect & Love???
by minimus ini know there's a lot of elder bashing here.
most of it is quite justified.
i'm curious as to whether all your dealings with the elders were horrible.

Hah!
yes, Min, they loved me....that is until I would not let them "have their way with me";
and when I forced them all to bend over and take "ceasars law" up their "most holy"; it really earned me a "special" place in their Theocratic hearts.....
to this day they will cross the street if they see me coming......

Blair and the other champaigne socialists
by Simon in.
just one of the reasons i despise the man.
like the rest of the bunch of hypocrites they have abandoned all the ideals that they once claimed to have and are now more than happy to have their nose in the trough.. for all the criticism of thatcher (who transformed the country from the tatters it was left in under labour) they have made things much, much worse in terms of difference between rich and poor.. notice too how labour donators seem to have particularly done well, as has mrs blair - her latest contribution sapping money from local education and giving it to fundamentalist muslims in bogus human rights legalities.. http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/news/article.html?in_article_id=398578&in_page_id=2.

yes, my advice is to get a job and work.
find a job placement agency and start the interviewing. It may take some time, but hey, what else have you got to do now that you do not go out in field service and attend meegings...chuckle, chuckle
In all seriousness, find a job and build your career for a few yeats after you are married. You will be surprised how much you enjoy it.

Did You Date As a JW To Just Find A Marriage Mate??
by minimus inor were you a recreational dater?
-
franklin J
as a young JW pioneer I dated with a view toward marriage. I dated some very nice "sisters"; none of which I felt I could be married to. I dated quite a few sisters. In hindsite it was all "boring " stuff. Much like a job interview. There was no real attraction, intellectual or physical. There was no physical contact ( well, with one there was; we made out on the beach one nite and felt guilty for it. We did not date again .She later married someone else; guess he made out better).
Then, when I became wordly ; I thought as a wordly guy and dated as a worldly guy. After I had gone through therapy and had a clearer head, I actually had fun dating . It literaly lit a fuse inside me; it flipped the switch. I dated for no other reason then that there was mutual attraction and to have "fun"--without ANY view to marriage". I had FUN. I thought I was a late bloomer; getting layed at age 22.
But after that, It was a very different ball game.
ps. marriage came as a result of one of those relationships....and after 18 years I have no regrets of my marriage partner; I do not feel I missed anything.
